Diana of Themyscira
Type: Canon
Codename: Wonder Woman
Aliases: Diana Prince, Princess Diana, Miss America
Age: 30's
Gender: female
Faction: Justice League
Family: Hippolyta (mother), Donna Troy (sister), Antiope (aunt), Terrence Long (brother-in-law), Robert Long (nephew)
~ Skills ~
Powers:
Superhuman Strength: Granted by Demeter (Goddess of the Earth). Diana is literally as strong as the Earth because of her link to the planet granted to her by Demeter. She is said to be 'stronger than Hercules'. It is obvious her strength is magical in nature, given her height and weight. Wonder Woman is known to be one of the strongest beings in the DCU, often shown to be in the same class as Superman himself and to physically over-match other beings such as Supergirl without too much effort. She is considered to be the strongest superheroine in the world. After Superman, she is the strongest superhero in the DCU. She has godlike strength and also invulnerability due to her aegis-made shield magic bracelets. With her superhuman strength and superior fighting abilities, she has proven to be able to take on any other member of the Justice League in combat. In the events of Justice League: League of One, she was able to defeat even the other six main members through a combination of planning and power in order to save their lives and the world. She is strong enough to lift weights well into the megaton range and even pull 1/3 of the earth.
Superhuman Durability: Granted by Demeter (Goddess of the Earth). Diana, possesses a high resistance to damage and magical attacks. Her resistance to injury is not quite as great as any of the above mentioned metahumans. However, due to her vast threshold for pain and her amazon ability to heal at a superhuman rate, this easily makes up for the difference. She has withstood considerable bludgeoning damage in the form of hand to hand combat with metahuman opponents such as Superman and Captain Marvel. She has considerable resistance to human weaponries, though this is not absolute; Bullets can cause minor to moderate injury, but never life threatening. And her ability to heal rapidly, makes up for this set back. She can easily survive under extreme pressures, cold, and heat. Wonder Woman has been able to traverse space, undergo submergence into lava, and withstand a direct explosion from a nuclear warhead unharmed. Born of the clay of Themyscira, and given life and divine powers by the gods themselves, Diana has heightened resistance to magical attacks. She is highly experienced in battling foes who use sorcery as a weapon. As a divine creation herself, she is far-less susceptible to manipulation by magic and mental attack than many of her fellow heroes. Also, Wonder Woman is self-sufficient in that she doesn't have to eat and can go without sleep. She is also capable of holding her breath under water, for hours and hours on end. She did this once when her and the Green Lantern were trying to fake her death.
Flight: Granted by Hermes (God of Messengers). Wonder Woman is capable of unassisted flight through an as yet unknown but probably magical means or through telekenisis. Her aerial maneuverability is not as developed as aerial combatants such as Hawkman or the Black Condor, but she is still a relatively capable aerial combatant as well. Wonder Woman is capable of flying at speeds of greater than escape velocity. She has been clocked at Mach 5 (hyper-sonic) traveling in sustained flight and can go much faster if need be.
Superhuman Speed: Granted by Hermes (God of Messengers). She is able to think, react and move at superhuman speeds. Her top speed is high hypersonic(It's lightspeed in some instances but it may not be consistent) and according to Flash, she can easily keep up with him but it should be noted that the Flash does not usually go at his nearly max speed which is lightspeed, unless the situation is severe and calls for it. Wonder Woman is most likely faster than Superman. She would have to be, to be able to deflect rapid fire from guns.
Superhuman Reflexes: Granted by Hermes (God of Messengers). Wonder Woman possesses reflex abilities similar to speedsters, such as Jesse Quick and Max Mercury, and has been noted as being faster than Superman's. She is able to keep up with Jesse Quick with ease, referencing her patron deity of speed and messenger of the gods, Hermes, as the source of her powers. Wonder Woman's reflexes are far beyond the limitations of the finest human athletes. She has been able to react to a barrage of gunfire from multiple opponents at once unharmed. Batman noted that her reflexes are superior to that of Superman.
Superhuman Agility: Wonder Womans's agility is far beyond that of even an Olympic level athlete, as is her balance and coordination.
Superhuman Stamina: Wonder Woman can last a great deal of time in any fight and with virtually anyone. She has held her own in combat with foes as powerful as a Doomsday clone. She doesn't tire out, as her body produces no lactic acids in her muscles.
Enhanced Healing Factor: Granted by Demeter (Goddess of Earth). Like the Earth, Diana is constantly renewing herself, allowing her to quickly heal mild to moderate injuries at an amazing rate. Her normal regenerative abilities allow her to recover from injury within seconds to minutes. She possesses an incredible immunity from poisons, toxins, as well as disease. In rare cases where she was gravely injured or where another has managed to severely poison her, Diana showed the ability to physically merge with the Earth, causing whatever injuries or poisons to be expelled from her body as she regains shape. Wonder Woman does not age like a regular human either. She is immortal while on Paradise island.
Oneness With Fire: Granted by Hestia (Goddess of the Hearth). Apparently making her a focus of truth.
Empathy: Granted by Athena. (Goddess of Wisdom) "The Sight of Athena" apparently grants her increased insight. (For example, Diana can often detects others' emotions, and is now so fully immune to Doctor Psycho's illusions that she usually is not even aware of what illusions he is attempting to project. Apparently most forms of mind control will not work on her either). She can also detect other people's emotions. Even other high-level telepaths would be unable to read her mind or attack her in such a manner.
Animal Rapport: Granted by Artemis (Goddess of the Hunt). Ability to communicate with all forms of animals (including dinosaurs) and her presence alone can bring a raging beast to a calm standstill. She is also able to directly command wild animals when needed. She used bald eagles to distract Superman after defeating him in battle once.
Enhanced Senses: Granted by Artemis (Goddess of the Hunt). Eyesight, hearing, taste, touch and smell.
Enhanced Vision: She also possess the "Hunters Eye" which allows her to always hit her mark. She can see to far greater distances than any normal human. Wonder Woman was briefly blinded, then had her sight restored by Athena. Since then, she has had the sight of Athena.
Enhanced Smell
Enhanced Hearing
Dimensional Teleportation: On occasion, Wonder Woman can literally leave the planet through meditaion. She did this to rescue Artemis when she was in hell, and has even conversed with the Greek Gods on occasion.
Weaknesses: Piercing Weapon Vulnerability: Diana is extremely resistant to blunt force attacks and has a vast tolerance for pain. Pressures, the vacuum of space, extreme heat and cold don't seem to faze her. And she can heal at a meta-human rate. However, Wonder Woman is somewhat vulnerable to piercing weapons, such as projectiles. Rifle or top notch machine-gun fire can cause bruising to slight penetration wounds, WHEN NOT blocked by her bracelets. Knives and swords of magical nature, as well as the attacker, will only cause pain and maybe, a temporary cut. Given her vast strength, it would be obvious that piercing weapons such as bullets, may penetrate her skin, but not her muscle tissue. Over the years, there have some inconsistencies in this weakness. She has been shown to be greatly weak against these forms of weaponry, and at other times has been able to ignore the impact. It should be noted that as she spends more time in Man's world, she becomes more powerful.
She can also be easily overpowered by beings with incredible powers or a person with incredible fighting abilities and prowess.
Abilities: Master Combatant: Diana is the finest warrior ever born among the Amazons of Themyscira. She is a master of armed and unarmed combat, proficient with nearly every weapon ever made (especially the bow and the javelin) and the exotic martial arts styles of the Amazons. Batman once remarked that Wonder Woman is the best melee fighter in the world.
Master Tactician and Strategist: Diana is also an accomplished strategist and tactician, trained in the arts of leadership, persuasion and diplomacy, and possesses a great deal of courage as well. She is a gifted leader.
Multi-lingual: Diana has exhibited heightened proficiency with languages, being able to speak her native Themysciran, Ancient and Modern Greek, English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Mandarin Chinese (she expressed "difficulty" with the tones of Cantonese during an interview with Lois Lane), Russian and Hindi. Plus, through precise muscle control, she can mimic other peoples voices for short conversations (telephone). It is more difficult, (though it can be done), for her to mimic a mans voice than another womans voice.
Wisdom: Granted by Athena (Goddess of Wisdom). Diana possesses great wisdom and intelligence, though the degree varies from author to author. She is among the smartest and wisest members of the Justice League of America, along with the Martian Manhunter and Batman.
Aviation: Expert pilot. Seen flying the Invisible Jet with ease.
Expert Lasso Wielder: Can use the Lasso of Truth as an offensive and defensive weapon.
Physical Beauty: Blessed with this gift, Wonder Woman is generally seen and known to be as beautiful as any supermodel.
Weapons: Indestructible Gauntlets: Modeled after the shackles the Amazons were once enslaved with. The gauntlets were formed from the remains of Zeus's legendary Aegis shield, and were re-forged for her use by Hephaestus. Diana's superhuman reflexes enable her to use the gauntlets to easily deflect projectiles (such as bullets) and powerful energy blasts from beings such as Ares and Darkseid. She is even fast enough to protect herself from multi-vector attacks. At close-range the gauntlets block blades, weapons and punches. In some stories, Diana has used the gauntlets as a dual defensive/offensive weapon, redirecting energy blasts back to their point of origin or other targets. They are even able to deflect Darkseid's energy attacks. When crossed, the gauntlets generate a remnant of the Aegis itself, forming an impenetrable barrier just in front of them which allows Diana to protect herself and those behind her from area attacks. With bracelets forged by Hephastus, Wonder Woman boosts her resistance to injury with her indestructible bracelets. She is able to deflect attacks that might otherwise cause her considerable injury but she can only deflect attacks she is aware of. It has recently been revealed that the braclets, as they were made from Zeus' legendary Aegis, have the capability to discharge lightning from them. Zeus himself confirmed this revelation, stating that the code was merely "unlocked" by Diana.
Lasso of Truth: The Lasso of Truth (Kalos Alétheias) is her famous trade mark device. Most who are captured in it, are forced to tell her any questions she asks and make it incapable for him or her to lie. It cannot be broken, snapped or cut. And she can also control it to a certain degree using telepathy. It can also be used to erase memories, heal the mentally ill (in some cases), and implant commands that must then be obeyed.
Boomerang Tiara: Diana's golden tiara also doubles as a throwing weapon, as it is razor-edged and can cut through most substances.

~ Psychological Profile ~
Personality: Diana is strong but obviously caring, loving and trusting. She wear her heart on her sleeve and expresses her emotions without reservation, which can create awkward situations for more emotionally repressed persons. She has learned to moderate her emotional display, particularly toward men, the reactions of whom she was obviously unfamiliar with previously - but his still rather outgoing and very honest about how she feels. In general, she is very truthful and does not believe in lying, which can complicate her embassy. Even in situations where the truth will cause grief and anger - or even sunder friendships - Diana will prefer to face and tell the truth. She's confident in the virtue of this and is sure that it is always better in the long term.
History: Diana was the daughter of Queen Hippolyta, the first child born on Paradise Island in the three thousand year history that the immortal Amazons lived there. The Amazons had been created around 1200 B.C. when the Greek goddesses drew forth the souls of all women who had been murdered by men. One soul was left behind, the one that would be born as Diana. That soul originally belonged to the unborn daughter of the first woman murdered by a man (whom Hippolyta was the reincarnation of). In the late 20th Century, Hippolyta was instructed to mold some clay from the shores of Paradise Island into the form of a baby girl. Six members of the Greek Pantheon then bonded the soul to the clay, giving it life. Each of the six also granted Diana a gift: Demeter, great strength; Athena, wisdom and courage; Artemis, a hunter's heart and a communion with animals; Aphrodite, beauty and a loving heart; Hestia, sisterhood with fire; Hermes, speed and the power of flight. Diana grew up surrounded by a legion of sisters and mothers. When she was a young woman, the gods decreed that the Amazons must send an emissary into Man's World. Queen Hippolyta ordered a contest to be held, but forbade Diana from participating. Diana disobeyed and did so anyway in disguise, easily winning the contest and being named the Amazon's champion. She was given a uniform fashioned from the standard of someone who had visited the island a few decades earlier.
Wonder Woman did not keep her identity a secret, and she was not at first a "super-heroine". Indeed, her character was in many ways that of a babe in the woods, innocent and without guile. Diana spoke only Themyscirian, a combination of classical Greek and Turkish. She had to learn English when she arrived in America, rather than knowing the language intuitively. Nonetheless, Diana was trained as a warrior and had no compunction against using deadly force when called for. Diana often dealt with war, injustice, inequality, death, and conflicts involving the Olympian Gods.
Before embarking on her mission, Diana was given the Lasso of Truth, forged by Hephaestus himself. She was also given the Sandals of Mercury, which allowed her to instantly traverse great distances in seconds. Diana's mission was one of peace, but part of it initially involved defeating a mad plot by Ares to destroy the world. Diana ventured into the world by starting at Boston. There she met a Harvard professor, Dr. Julia Kapatelis, and her daughter, Vanessa Kapatelis, as well as the Air Force Officers Steve Trevor and Etta Candy. Diana stayed with Julia and Vanessa and over the course of a month or two, Diana learned to speak English. She was attacked at their home by Decay, one of Ares' minions, and after a battle that spilled out into the streets of Boston she first came to the public's eye and was given the name Wonder Woman. Upon discovering Ares' plan (one that involved creating a nuclear holocaust), Diana managed to foil it, battling through his sons Phobos and Deimos before finally convincing him the error of his ways with the Lasso. After defeating the God of War, Diana returned home for healing at the hands of Poseidon himself.
While under the mind control of Maxwell Lord, Superman brutally beat Batman and engaged in an all out violent fight with Wonder Woman, thinking she was his enemy, Doomsday. Lord also tried this with Diana and failed as she is immune to this kind of power. Wonder Woman put up a valiant fight with the Man of Steel - Using her amazon skill, powers and intelligence to fend off the raw power of Superman, who by now was completely insane with rage. When Superman was stunned, she realized that he was'nt her real enemy and held back her attacks - sustaining more injuries (broken wrist) because of it. She created a diversion after grounding the Man of Steel that lasted long enough for her to race back to Max Lord and demand he tell her how to free Superman of his control. Bound in her lasso of truth Max replied, "You will have to kill me," and Wonder Woman snapped his neck after grounding Superman for a second time!
The ramifications of this action are expected to resonate in the future; her relationships with both Superman and Batman are seriously strained. The status of Wonder Woman amongst the other heroes and the public at large is uncertain; the Brother Eye satellite (the deranged Artificial Intelligence controlling the OMACs) broadcast the footage of Wonder Woman murdering Maxwell Lord, preceded by the word MURDER, to media outlets all over the world.
Wonder Woman defended herself from several OMACs who attacked her in her own home. Having repelled the assailants, she was delivering an injured boy to the hospital at the close of the issue and saw a broadcast of the damaging video on the waiting room's television. She witnessed first-hand how people viewing the footage reacted with fear and revulsion; Brother Eye had managed to kill the faith the world had in her. At the start of Infinite Crisis, Batman and Superman distrust her: the latter can only see her as a coldblooded murderer, the former sees in her an expression of the mentality that led several members of the League to decide to mindwipe their villains. (When he tried to stop the League from mindwiping Dr. Light after the villain brutally raped Sue Dibny, Batman's memory was also altered.)
To make matters worse, Brother Eye, acting out of vengeance for the murder of Lord, initiated the final protocol Truth and Justice which aims at the elimination of all Amazons. A full-scale invasion of Themyscira is set into motion, utilizing every remaining OMAC. Diana and her countrywomen, now isolated and alienated from the outside world, are fighting for their lives. The Amazons prepare to destroy the OMACs with a powerful new weapon. However, Wonder Woman realizes that Brother Eye is watching and transmitting, and that unleashing such destructive violence would only exacerbate the effects of her killing of Maxwell Lord. After the weapon (the Purple Ray of Death) is used once, Wonder Woman convinces the Amazons to shut it down. She then calls upon Athena, who transports Paradise Island and the Amazons remaining on it to another dimension. However, Wonder Woman chooses not to join them, and is left to face the OMACs alone.
Diana re-appears in the familiar guise of Diana Prince, secret agent, complete with an updated version of the white jumpsuit she sported in the early 1970s (Batman has helped her create her new secret identity.) Diana joins the Department of Metahuman Affairs, and is partnered with Nemesis. During her introduction to the team, she is brought up to speed on the surveillance information available on Wonder Woman. Prior to dropping out of sight, Wonder Woman was last observed in the company of an eastern mystic named I Ching (a reference to the late 60s-early 70s version of the character).
Wonder Woman asks Kate Spencer (whom she knows to be Manhunter) to represent her before the Federal grand jury empaneled to determine if she should be tried for the murder of Maxwell Lord (even though she has been exonerated by the World Court). With the help of Sasha Bordeaux of Checkmate, Kate Spencer obtains a video of Wonder Woman killing Maxwell Lord which proves that Max was in control of Superman when she killed him. However, Wonder Woman will not allow Kate to use the evidence, as it would lead people to distrust Superman. Upon concluding their deliberations, the grand jurors refuse to indict Diana. The World Court has dropped the charges against Diana for the killing of Maxwell Lord.
Her first mission to save Donna Troy from a team of supervillains is joined by Cassie Sandsmark, Robin, Nemesis and the gods' new champion, Hercules. After revealing herself, Circe steals their powers and Diana is betrayed by Hercules who reveals he and Circe were the only gods who defied Athena's edict to vacate the mortal plane. Circe then betrays Hercules and de-powers him as well. Eventually Diana's powers are restored and she twirls into Wonder Woman for the first time since handing over that title to her sister Donna.
Diana, Superman, and Batman meet to re-form the Justice League. After a battle against Solomon Grundy, Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) and Black Canary offer membership to those involved in the last mission. The JLA and JSA join forces when members of the Legion of Super-Heroes are discovered in the 21st Century.
Diana Prince's interaction with a women's movement that has established a series of "Athenian Women's Help Shelters," to which are brought women who have been abused and have taken action to defend themselves.
Diana is captured and imprisoned by the Department of Metahuman affairs, led by an imposter Sarge Steel. She is tortured and interrogated to garner information that will allow the United States government to build a Purple Death Ray like the one the Amazons revealed during Infinite Crisis. Moments prior to the Amazon assault on Washington, D.C., Diana is freed by Nemesis.
After the attack all Amazons who participated had their memories erased by the gods save for Queen Hippolyta, who freed from Circe's spell lamented the destruction caused, as well as a ban being put in place preventing any of the Amazons off the island from returning, again save Hippolyta.
Around this time Wonder Woman was attacked by a combat unit of superpowered albino Gorilla Knights from Gorilla City. Convinced of humanity's ill intentions by Gorilla Grodd and encounters with poachers, Grodd played on the young gorilla's feelings of rage and trained and equipped them to be the ultimate combat unit, fit to take on the likes of Superman and Wonder Woman, and sent them to attack Diana. Diana talked them down and convinced them of Grodd's deceptive ways. Tolifhar, their leader, swore their service to her until tempers cooled enough for her to negotiate their return home to Gorilla City with Solovar. They moved into her apartment as a temporary measure.
A group of Nazis who had been given abilities similar to those of Captain Nazi took advantage of Themyscira's empty state. When Wonder Woman encountered Captain Nazi on a mission as Diana Prince, she learned of their plans after defeating him and set out to thwart them, knowing her mother stood alone in it's defense.
While Queen Hippolyta fought a one-person resistance campaign against the Nazis, Diana beseeched god after god from various pantheons for their aid in bypassing the ban and reaching Themyscira, but none was willing to face Athena's wrath until Kane Milohai, who agreed to adopt Diana as a champion and daughter, and gave her his standard, a cloth tied around her arm, and a sea shell that would grow to any size and
With the arrival of the Gorilla Knights and Wonder Woman, the Nazis, though powerful, found themselves in a fight they weren't ready for, and having already suffered in morale from the casualties inflicted by the Amazon Queen, they surrendered and withdrew from the island when faced with Wonder Woman's skill. While they were there, however, they had freed four Amazon criminals, once Hippolyta's personal guard, the Circle, who had been imprisoned ever since Diana's birth, believing her to be a dragon who would destroy Themyscira and having attempted to kill her as a baby.
Lead by Alkyone the Circle attacked immediately, inflicting wounds from surprise with god-forged arrows almost the moment the invaders had left the island, and challenged Wonder Woman to singlehandedly face all four in a challenge to retrieve her mother, who had been injured in the previous battles and they had taken. Using skill and cunning and their knowledge of the island three of them ambushed her, and inflicted further wounds, though Diana defeated them. Diana confronted Alkyone and called her bluff on her willingness to hurt her Queen. Alkyone accused Diana of being a mere doll brought to life and a demon, which Diana rebuked, informing Alkyone she had a soul and was no doll while fending off her attacks. Disbelieving of their words and refusing to surrender despite being outmatched, the former guard captain made one last desperate attack, then leaped into the see. The other three were returned to their cells and remained unrepentant. Diana left the island once more, though several of her gorilla friends decided to remain behind on Themyscira with Hippolyta.
The stain of dishonor from the Amazon's Attack was finally erased when Earth was attacked by the Citizenry, a civilization of ruthless and powerful warriors who had wiped clean countless worlds and slain many champions and armies, including members of the Green Lantern Corps. Finding that their leader was once an Amazon claiming to be Hippolyta's sister who had been taken from Earth millennia ago and reshaped in their ways, Diana fought her and her daughter in orbit aboard their ships while the Amazons, assisted by Achilles and her Gorilla Knights, defended Washington DC, the centerpoint of the invasion.
